The World Time Travel Clock is a global time zone clock that shows the time at multiple locations around the world. Each location is displayed as a yellow banner with the location's name and an arrow pointing to the current time at that location. The clock also shows the dividing lines between days. One line pointing to midnight divides the globe into two days, which are labeled on either side of the line. The other line - that rotates with the clock face as it moves - is the international date line.
Above the clock is a label showing a location's name and its current time and date. Tap on the label to cycle through the custom locations you have selected. The label underneath the clock shows the timezone associated with the current location.
Time Machine
Touch and rotate the clock face backwards or forwards to move the time forward into the future or backwards into the past. When the time is shifted forward or backward a 'rewind' button appears in the lower left corner of the clock. Tap it to return the clock to the present time.
Customize Locations
Tap the globe button in the lower right corner to show the list of locations that are shown on the clock face. You can add, remove, or reorder the locations shown on the clock. Tap the "+" icon to add a location, swipe left on a location row to remove a location, and press and hold a row to move the location up or down. To set a new location's time zone, tap "Tap to select location..." and select the time zone using a list of time zones by region, or ordered by their GMT offset. You can also change the title displayed for a location on the clock banner. Tap the text field under "Banner Title" and enter a custom title. Note that this field only allows text characters (no emojis or other special characters).
View Times and Set Notifications
In the upper left corner, tap the clock icon to see a table with times in your current location ("local"), the times in all the custom chosen locations, and the times in major timezones around the globe.
Notifications
To create a notification that will alert you when it is a given time in one of your chosen locations, first use the time shift feature to move the clock forward to the time when you want to be notified, then tap on the clock icon in the upper left corner and on the timezones screen tap on the location you want to set the notification for. Note that this will schedule a notification for the *time* selected regardless of the date, even if it is in the past. If you rotate the globe 5 minutes backwards, you will get an alert in about 23 hours and 55 minutes.
Troubleshooting Notifications
The iPhone has a lot of ways to silence potential alerts. You may not get an alert or a sound for a notification, if one of the following conditions is true:
- The mute switch is on, or the ringer volume is set all the way down.
- Do not disturb is on (change in Settings app -> Do Not Disturb)
- The app is not allowed to get notifications (change in Settings app -> Notifications -> Travel Clock)
- You have an Apple Watch and it is set to mirror alerts from iPhone app. Sometimes it will send the alert to the watch, but sometimes it won't, and either way you won't hear any sound on the phone. (Change in Watch app -> Notifications -> scroll down to the "Mirror iPhone Alerts From:" section and find "Travel Clock").
Settings
Clock Style
You can choose either 12 or 24 hour clock numbering.
Font
You can choose from 15 fonts to display on the main clock screen.
Perspective
You can choose to see the times from the perspective of the North or South Pole. The default is to view the times as if you were hovering over the South Pole. In this mode you will see the times move clockwise, around the clock face. If you choose North Pole perspective, the locations will move counter-clockwise as they advance in time, as if you were hovering over the North Pole.
